Does the 3D FXD Player have any different requirements than Presenter?
The 3D FXD Player has fewer requirements than Presenter. It's free. It does not need to be licensed using an Internet connection. It's not a PowerPoint plugin so does not require that PowerPoint is installed on the machine.
However, the 3D FXD Player does have exactly the same hardware requirements as Presenter, and a paid is required to enable stereoscopic 3D output.
How do assets like videos, audio, insert scenes, and FXThemes get packaged into FXD files?
FXD publishing allows those assets to be omitted, included, or linked. They can be omitted when you know they'll be present on the system that receives the FXD file. If you include them, the FXD file will be larger but it will guarantee that all necessary assets are present. Finally, if you choose to link the assets the recipient can choose to download them when the FXD file is first run. In this manner, the latest versions of assets can be sent to an FXD file.
What if some of my assets are proprietary. I want the user of the FXD file to be able to see them, but not download them locally. Is that possible?
Yes. FXD Publishing supports digital media protection. When you publish with linked assets, you have the option of allowing those assets to be installed or not. If they are not installed, they are stored in system memory while being viewed. They are released from memory when the 3D FXD Player is closed or a new FXD file is opened.
I turned on the "Use Minimul UI" option for the FXD Player. How do I get the normal UI back?
With the 3D FXD Player running, press F2. That will bring up the FXD Player Display Options dialog. Uncheck the Use Minimal UI option and then close the Player. Next time you start it up, the standard UI will be back.
