New Life Church of San Diego (NLC) has a young congregation of 300 and a desire to use the communication power of modern media as part of its ministry. But 21st century evangelism creates a budgetary challenge as most of the audio visual solutions specifically configured for use in church production are aimed at the so-called "top 10" congregations with membership in the thousands and AV budgets to match. NLC's resources are much more modest.
Josh Gilson is a digital media professional who runs the the NLC's audio visual group. He recently encountered OfficeFX Professional while assisting with a large corporate event where the product was being used and knew he'd found a solution that would give his church the integrated media solution they were looking for at a price their limited budget could manage. The product now serves as the delivery platform for NLC services as well as its various youth events.
About OfficeFX Professional, Josh says, "With OfficeFX Pro I'm producing graphics that look like they were done with an expensive church media production system, but it's all coming from a single computer using basic PowerPoint workflow. Video insert scenes allow me to integrate multiple videos right into the program and do so in a variety of visually interesting ways that really appeal to our young congregation. Quality is great and I don't have the expense of separate video gear. The new Presenter View allows volunteers from our congregation who are not computer specialists to help out. It enables them to easily jump around in the big slide decks that we use for our services. OfficeFX Pro has allowed NLC to deliver very high end church production visuals at a price we can afford, and it's so easy that they're even using it in our Kids Church."
Josh is running OfficeFX Pro on AMD powered desktop systems with 256Mb GeForce 7600 graphics. A typical church service PowerPoint file is 100 to 150 slides and includes multiple video files.
